Ring of Kerry

Today, we started out in Killarney to drive the Ring of Kerry, which is an 111–mile (179–km) circular route from Killarney, around the Iveragh Peninsula to Killorglin, and passing through such towns as Waterville and Sneem. Some of it is through countryside and mountains and some of it at water’s edge.

I have put my photos of the Ring of Kerry on a slideshow. Go to

Finnegan’s

Tonight we had an optional dinner and National Folk Theatre performance in Tralee. The dinner was at Finnegan’s Restaurant.

Rose of Tralee

After our dinner, we walked through the Tralee Town Park and Rose Garden across the street and saw this statue called the Rose of Tralee. The man is the poet and composer William Pembroke Mulchinock, a wealthy Protestant, and the woman is his sweetheart, Mary O’Connor, the Rose of Tralee, who was his family’s poor Catholic maid. He is presenting Mary with a rose, a sign of his love for her.

National Folk Theatre

Next, we walked over to the National Folk Theatre. No photos were allowed of the show. It was a show of traditional music, song, and dance.
