Kris and Brandi

This is my favorite wedding photo. Kris and Brandi’s wedding here was not a legal wedding––they will still have to get married in the U.S.––but was a spiritual wedding. They left the wedding arrangements up to the photographers––the Del Sol Photography Group. Del Sol plans to use this wedding in their promotional literature. Kris and Brandi will be getting a DVD of the wedding and will try to stream it onto this website. Also, professional photos of the wedding will also be added on this website. The actual cenote (sea cave) kept being changed––this was left up to the photographers as to which cenote the wedding would be at. When I heard at first that we would be taking a boat to the cave and my clothes would probably be getting wet, I decided to purchase a waterproof camera and I used to to take my wedding photos. But it didn’t take as good as photos as my regular camera, and since the wedding location was changed to a cenote that we took a van to, I was sorry that I hadn’t taken my better camera with me.

Going to the Cenote

Kris and Brandi on their way to the cenote.

Going to the Cenote

I think I froze when I saw this––Do we have to go down to the cenote via this rope?

A look down the hole. The Yucatan Peninsula is a vast limestone slab. Below ground is a network of caves and underground rivers reached through holes. I imagine that this is a hole to a cenote, but, thankfully, this was not the wedding cenote.

The Wedding

We were met by the minister (in the middle) and the shaman (on the right). I was surprised that the shaman was a woman. The minister was asking Kris and Brandi some questions and also telling them about the actual wedding.

Two of the photographers. I think there were five photographers all together. The one in the rear of the photo kept taking photos of me, mainly I think of me taking photos.

A champagne toast. Kris and Brandi stayed at the cenote after the ceremony to have more photos taken, including ones with them swimming in the cenote in their wedding clothes––the rest of our group were taken back to our hotel.

In Memoriam

I don’t know where to put this photo but I wanted to include it. After the wedding, Brandi had to make the decision to put her dog, Emily, to sleep. Brandi and Kris stayed in their room to cry and decided not to have a wedding dinner. What was one of the best days of Brandi’s life was also one of the worst days of her life.
