Easter Vigil at St. Istvan’s Basilica, Budapest

A beautiful Easter Vigil procession at St. Istvan’s Basilica. The organ music and choir was heard loudly in the square and neighboring streets. We came upon the procession as we were walking through St. Istvan Ter––a great unexpected treat. I apologize for the amount of static that my camera’s microphone picked up along with the music.

Hungarian Horse Show, Puszta Plains

Almost the full Hungarian Horse Show at a horse farm in the Puszta Great Plains area about 60 miles south of Budapest. I went to the horse show on a Puszta Great Plains and Kecskemet Day Trip from Budapest. The movie is quite long––over 15 minutes.

Note that the animals are not being hit by the whips.

Hungarian Gypsy Music

These gypsy musicians played during our lunch in the Puszta Great Plains on the Puszta Great Plains and Kecskemet Day Trip that I took from Budapest. The people eating lunch were not quiet, and since the path to the bathrooms was right in front of the musicians, people kept walking in front of them. However, you can’t really ruin “The Blue Danube” no matter the circumstances are where it is being played.

Gypsy musicians are very popular at weddings in this part of Europe.

Romanian Music at a Folklore Dinner

Romanian music at our folklore dinner in Bucharest. The yellow–colored instrument being played by the man standing up is called a Romanian 15–note can pan pipe. The instrument that the man sitting down is hitting with drum sticks is called a cimbalom. The cimbalom player puts on a very good, enthusiastic show nearer the end of the movie.
