Elvis, Brandi, and Kris

Today was Kris Drouet (my son) and Brandi Lomeli’s big day––they were to become legally married in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Elvis Chapel They already had a “spiritual” wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, in May. However, a Mexican marriage ceremony is not recognized as a legal one in the U.S.––hence, another wedding.

Going to the Chapel

“Going to the chapel and ‘they’re’ gonna get married”––you old rock and rollers will know the song. The Elvis Chapel limo picked us up at Caesar’s Palace at 5:30 p.m.

Inside the Limo

Nine of us inside the limo––we are all in a very good jovial mood. You can see Kris holding tightly onto the Nevada marriage license.

The Minister and My Son

Bob is an ordained Methodist minister and performed the legal wedding ceremony. When I gave Jane the address of the chapel, she told me that her friends Bob and Judy are the ones who own it––it is a very very small world. We all felt this was a very good omen.

Brandi, the Photobug

Brandi is like her very soon to be legal mother–in–law: she is also a photobug and couldn’t resist taking this photo.

The actual marriage vows were very short and within no time Kris and Brandi were legally Mr. and Mrs. Drouet. The Wedding Kiss.

More of Elvis and Kris

Elvis and Kris warming up the wedding guests. By now you should realize that this wedding was to be fun. The serious wedding was Kris and Brandi’s cenote wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and photos arae on this website: Go to Albums, Mexico, The Yucatan, May 13–15, 2009, “Day 3(Con’t), Kris and Brandi’s Cenote Wedding.”

I took a movie clip of Kris and Brandi’s Elvis Wedding. It is on this website: Go to Movies, United States, Las Vegas, “Kris and Brandi’s Las Vegas Elvis Wedding.”  A bit different version of the wedding is also on You–tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYU1YBXum9o. The sound on my movie clip is much better than that of the one on You–tube.

Brandi’s cousin and hairdresser is in the middle partially hidden. The other ladies are also hairdressers attending a convention in Las Vegas. It was great to have them all come to the wedding.

After the Wedding

After the wedding, most of us went to the Rio to have the wedding dinner. Casino floor of the Rio (the casino show was not run this evening).

The Wedding Dinner

The wedding dinner was held at the Cafe Martorano at the Rio. Before eating, we had drinks and appetizers at the restaurant’s lounge which was playing Dean Martin songs. While eating, different, more modern, very loud music was being played and also videos of Prava models and episodes of the Sopranos were being run on screens throughout the restaurant––it was an Italian restaurant so it all fit.

The Birthday

Every celebration should end with some fireworks––this one was lit to celebrate Kris’ birthday tomorrow. What a great wedding, great wedding guests, a great celebration, and a really great new daughter–in–law.
