Gretna Green

On our way back to London, we stopped at Gretna Green, Scotland. This is a very popular place to be married, since the legal age to marry, without parental permission, in Scotland is 16. In England, it is 18.

There are several shops here, including a whiskey house.

I did some shopping at the Tartan Shop as it was recommended by our tour director as a shop carrying very good Scottish wools and other items. It did. There are number of interesting statues in this complex. You can see one in this photo.

And another. We arrived in London late in the afternoon. I ate dinner again at the Thai restaurant down the street. The second round of bombings (attempted) in London were only two days ago and I thought better about venturing into the city center. Anyway, tonight I had to figure out how to pack all my souvenirs into my suitcases for my return tomorrow back to Los Angeles. I flew back from Heathrow via Calgary on Air Canada. This day, it was heavily raining in London. I had an uneventful trip back, and when I landed in LA, I was glad to be home.
