The Golden Temple

Today is the last day in Nepal and our India/Nepal tour. We would fly to Delhi in the afternoon.

This morning we checked out of our hotel and went to the Golden Temple and the Durbar (Palace) Square in Patan, a city near Kathmandu before heading to the airport.

The Golden Temple is a Buddhist temple dating back to the early 15th century, though a monastery was in the same location in the 12th century. The temple is full of Buddhist images. In the photo, a lion sculpture.

Patan Durbar Square

The Patan Durbar Square is one of three palace squares in the Kathmandu Valley. The other two, the Katmandu Durbar Square and the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, we had already visited. The Patan square is full of many Buddhist and Hindu temples. Photo: temples in the square.

We flew to Delhi from Kathmandu. I stayed at the Delhi airport, a beautiful modern airport, to await my flight from Delhi to Newark, New Jersey, then onto Los Angeles from there. My tour mates went to a hotel in Delhi to rest up before their flights early next morning. It was about a 15–hour flight from Delhi to the U.S. (7,323 miles) and then about another 6 hours to LA  (2,454 miles). A lot of flying. The whole trip was quite an experience! But I was glad to be back home!
